Day of the Dead
A Daylong Vipassana Meditation Retreat 
in the Spirit of Halloween and Día de Los Muertos 

 with Jesse Maceo Vega-Frey

Reflection on Death is one of the many important meditation subjects encouraged by the Buddha. Throughout the world, many cultures recognize autumn as a time to reflect on impermanence and to honor loved ones who have passed away. Join Jesse Maceo Vega-Frey for a day of meditation on death and impermanence while abiding in lovingkindness and gratitude for our loved ones who have died. In our closing ceremony we will take special care to share the merit of our practice with those who have passed away.

All participants are invited to bring photographs or small mementos of deceased loved ones for a communal altar we will create together.
Lunch will be potluck - please bring a favorite dish of a loved one for the enjoyment of all!
(Due to restrictions at the Zendo, please prepare a vegetarian version of your special dish. Please contact Dorothy, our administrator, if you need help converting a recipe. Rice and Salad will be provided.)

$30 required advance registration covers administrative, rice/salad, and rental costs but, in keeping with tradition, does not include compensation for the teacher. Jesse offers his teaching freely and is supported only by acts of generosity. Please consider offering dana (generosity) to the him in support of his livelihood at the end of the retreat.

Jesse Maceo Vega-Frey is the Resident Teacher for Vipassana Hawai’i. His teaching aims to inspire the skills, determination, and faith necessary to realize the deepest human freedom. 

Cancellation policy for this retreat: 

If you cancel less than six business days prior to the retreat, we cannot offer a refund. If you cancel before this six-day window, we can refund fees less $5.00. Thank you for your understanding.
